The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) is an independent international organisation established in 1990 by Hungary, the United States and the European Commission. The REC works in various fields of sustainable development, bridging the gap between solutions and stakeholders on issues such as environmental policy, biodiversity, climate change, renewable energy, environmental information, environmental investments, law drafting, sectorial integration and waste management.
With its independent position and structure, as well as its expertise, the REC is able to facilitate, support and initiate dialogue or cooperation among different stakeholders for the successful solution of environmental problems that would otherwise be harder to achieve.
